BEST ALBUMS OF 2009

(Everyone are doing it, so we thought to do the same):
Here are the best albums of 2009 as the UK DARKNESS CREW see it (not in any particular order):

LAMB OF GOD – Wrath: not the best album of the band that’s for sure, but since Lamb of God is one of our favorite bands, and the fact that we don’t think 2009 had lots of good music, this album must be on this list.

MEGADETH – Endgame: there is no doubt; this album is one of the best Megadeth albums of all times. Some 20 years after, they released a great album. DAVE MUSTAINE was always problematic, both as a singer and a person, and after the fiasco on METALLICA’s some kind of monster movie he had to take whatever left of his 18 years broken ginger ego and put it on a record. We are so thankful that he did. ENDGAME is the shit! One of the best albums of 2009!!

ALICE IN CHAINSE – Black gives way to blue: not only that this album is one of the best albums of the year, it’s an important one. As we at the UK DARKNESS CREW say “take all the time you need”. Alice took it. They knew how much is at stake – if the new album after Layne will not be good enough they will die. This album is the surprise of the last ten years. Great songs with new singer that rock!!

THE DEAD WEATHER – Horehound: there is something right about JACK WHITE and ALISON MUSSHART. The correlation of whites’ guitar sound and THE KILLS vocalist singing is out there. Someone had to glue those guys together and put them in a studio. We think it’s the best project Jack done.

SLAYER – World painted blood: not much to say. The best thing is that Slayer released it. This album is far from being one of their best one, but it did good for metalheads around the world, and it’s an important step for good metal music.

HATEBREED – For the lions: just when one will think Hatebreed songs sounds all the same, no matter how great they are, they released this one. And for crying out loud it’s a good one! Out of respect, this band that we could have never heard about got to be huge, recorded cover versions of songs which made Hatebreed what they are today.

we will love to know what u think, what are your albums of the year?

btw, have u buy our Tshirt yet? check it out here

The last Alice in chains album I’ve heard got to stores on 1995, since than the band finished saying what they had to say. Seven years after, Layne Staley, Alice in chains front man soul went to heaven. For me, he was it!
He was a package full of heroin on two feet. A bag of depression that used to stand on the stage, holding the microphone and ripping his heart out for the fans.

Laynes’ death switched off the plug on AIC, without Staley there’s no Alice in chains, or so I thought.
Until last night in London.

Hard rock fans were shocked when AIC released a new single a few months ago. How can it be? Layne is dead!
Yes, Jerry Cantrell is still alive (thanks for that) and he even got his own albums and stuff (never listened to even one album of his) but Alice front man was so unique and without him there can not be Alice. But boy I was wrong. With the first chord of AIC single “a looking in view” I knew they are back.

When I got to the Forum, holding ticket to a show I never thought I’d see I knew I am not alone. So many people like me stood in the queue, most of them over their thirties, nineties kids who breathe Seattle all their youths.

The show was great! The Alice in chains sound blasting to our faces. They played a few songs from the last album, but the mosh pit really fired when Alice played grunge songs like “man in the box” and “rooster”.
Yes, Layne was missed no doubt about it, but William Duvall is such a great singer that as time went by, you would not be bothered about the fact it’s not Layne up there on the stage.

They could have a longer concert, but I don’t think it was necessary. It was almost two hours of awesome hard rock in a show that felt more intimate than having sex with the one u love.
And now I’m listening to Alice in chains all day 24/7, like I used to do years ago.

scandal seven welcome the darkness

here is a T shirt picture the UK darkness crew got from Scandal Seven.
Scandal Seven is a very cool "street & rock wear label" as in the web site

we at UK darkness crew think its a wicked tee. not only it's black, we really love the writing "no gods, no masters". not all Scandals' shirts are for us dark people, but some are very much our cup of Jack Daniels.

World Painted Blood

I never thought id be writing a post about slayer on 2009. When I was 16 listening day in day out to slayer, there was no internet, well infect, there was all those gicks with their computers that can talk to each other via the phone bips (that was the beginning of the internet you young shitheads). The thing is that I never thought slayer would be still playing or breathing at all at 2009. They will all be dead by now. Rotten skeletons in the abyss.

BUT NO! They are alive; their old bones can still reap the soul of all guitar demons of hell.
Not only they have kick ass live shows.

they now release a new album.

I really liked slayers "christ illusion" album. For me they are back. And it’s not an easy thing.
But they did it. Sure, it’s not their best album but it’s a slayer one. One like only slayer can.

The new slayer album "world painted blood" is out November 3rd.
I like the name.

So far I heard only the first album titled release "world painted blood". A great first song but not the best one iv ever heard. don’t like the chorus.
Sound-wise, Greg fildman which produce some shit like metallica's "death magnetic" made a pretty good job. I hope the mistake of a not fat enough sound is a one time mistake and that the whole album is better than just this song.

And for closure, an important interview with slayer. early years. hard to the core.
