SOULFLY NEW ALBUM OMEN

When I was a teenager i wanted to be JAMES HETFIELD or MAX CAVALERA. They were the shit! Their anger, singing style and performance just blew me away. Sure, SEPULTURA and METALLICA of today are not what they were in the good old days of the early nineties. I am not sure that young MAX or JAMES would listen to the last albums of either SEPULTURA or METALLICA, but maybe that’s why Cavalera is not a Sepultura member anymore. No doubt max still has the anger and he knows how to channel it through. CAVALERA CONSPIRACY AND SOULFLY are the right bands for him to do so.

The last Soulfly record CONQUER is brutal, heavy and interesting musically. And the production is really good. The new Soulfly record is due in May. Much anticipation there. But a small fear of it being not as good as I’d like it to. The fact that max say it’s more HARDCORE style, might insinuate a boring album. Hardcore is fucking great, but in metal, I like the music to be interesting with song parts, very good guitar mastership and great drums sound. Hardcore is very raw short stripped down songs. Again, it's great but it's not Soulfly. Max Cavalera likes to collaborate with others. A list of these collaborations with others is a whole post of its own, and sure enough we are for some on the new SOULFLY ALBUM. PRONG's TOMMY VICTOR and DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN’s GERG PUCIATO will contribute vocals (what about a NEW PRONG ALBUM ????) both Maxs' sons, ZION (which his heart beats feature on the beginning of CHAOS A.D.) and IGOR will play on two song, one of them is REFUSE RESIST cover, which is a bloody great metal tune!!


As much as I’m sure I’m not the only one want max to join his brother Igor and make another BENETH THE REMAINS, I’m sure I’m not the only one eager to listen to the FIRST SINGLE out of the NEW SOULFLY ALBUM OMEN !!!

KEITH RICHRDS IS ON THE WAGON

Who'd believe it will happen, but according to Classic Rock mag, Keith Richards- a rock icon, the man who drunk, smoke and snort it all, decided to stop drinking booze.
He is clean for about 4 months now. lets see if he stays on the wagon and if it will harm the way he is bluesing.

The delta blues players Keith grew on were all drunk. men who used alcohol, cigarettes or drugs for decades sometimes cant stop because their body is used to it so much that if they'll stop they can die.

So, the future will tell how the master will cope with it.

SOUNGARDEN REUNION

As the “uber” post modernist time we live in main thing is that nothing new can be invented and it’s all just new versions of old things, the rock world is not different. So you probably know by now that we r in the reunions era.

The reasons for a hard rock band to reunite are money – sometimes rockers need money you know, but it can be greed (mostly record companies which want to cash in on a trend), the Loop effect in the world we live in is a reason too as music and fashion styles have a come back every 20 years or so. And sure you have another reason, which is the one less occurring – musicians can’t stop writing songs, want to play together and record, so they get together to jam, see it’s really great and have a reunion.

The reason for the SOUNDGARDEN REUNION announced just this weekend (http://www.soundgardenworld.com/) is uncertain. It might be the ALICE IN CHAINS reunion/comeback (http://scandalsevenblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/19/alice-in-fuckin-chains/).
Someone understood that so many rock veterans getting reunited has a monetary upturn. There is no other explanation.

Here are some of those reunions we had in the last couple of years:
ROB HALFORD returns to JUDAS PRIEST – 2003.
DAVID LEE ROTH returns to VAN HALEN – 2006.
LED ZEPPELIN’s gig – 2007
These are just a few, not to mention the last two SLAYER records, TESTAMENT play live and the metal scene of the first days of thrash metal revisited with avenges.

As for now, we don’t know what the Soundgarden reunion is all about. One big gig is promised, but we at the UK DARKNESS CREW think that if they’ll get into the studio and record a new album is a great idea.
